I took a shot on this set (Pilot aren't the easiest band to find around here if you want more than just "January" and "Magic") and I am pleased to say that while they have turned the volume up a bit, it's overall fantastic! 'Call Me Round' was recorded by Pilot and is found on their "Second Flight" albumĪlmost every new CD I've bought - especially remasters of old albums - over the last ~20 years has been pretty crap, usually loud and overly compressed.   • The final disc is 1977’s “Two’s A Crowd” album, previously only available on CD in Japan.
  • Amongst the bonus tracks are rare solo 45’s from members Billy Lyall and David Paton.
  • Disc three is 1976’s “Morin Heights” album which includes the singles ‘Canada’, ‘Running Water’ and ‘Penny In My Pocket’.
  • One of the bonus tracks is the UK No.31 hit single ‘Just A Smile’.
  • The song has also been regularly used in TV adverts for the Asda superstore! This features the international hit single ‘January’ – a UK No.1, it also topped the charts in Australia, made No.21 in Germany and the Top 100 in America.
  • Three bonus cuts have been added including the ultra-rare ‘Ra-Ta-Ta’ single recorded under the name Scotch Mist.

    Disc 1 is the debut “From The Album Of The Same Name” which features the hit single ‘Magic’ – a UK No.11, it also hit No.5 in the USA and No.1 in Canada and has been featured in films such as Herbie: Fully Loaded, Happy Gilmore and Magic Roundabout.This package is scheduled to be released in August 2020 and will also include bonus tracks in addition to the original albums. By the time 1977 came around only Paton and Bairnson were left from the original foursome, and they recorded Pilot's final album (the aptly entitled Two's a Crowd) alone.I'm happy to report that Cherry Red UK are issuing a new 4CD clamshell box set including Pilot's studio albums from 1974-1977. The band's other single chart hits were "Call Me Round" and "Just A Smile" (both 1975). The simple but catchy pop ditty "January" gave them their biggest hit in the UK, securing the number one spot in the UK Singles Chart in January 1975. The 1974 single "Magic" from their debut album, engineered by Alan Parsons and written by David Paton, was a #11 UK and #5 U.S. Joined by Stuart Tosh and Ian Bairnson, the band recorded several demos over the course of 19, eventually catching the attention of EMI Records. This was prior to the Bay City Rollers "hitting the big time". Pilot was a pop rock group formed in 1973 in Edinburgh, Scotland by former Bay City Rollers members David Paton and Billy Lyall.
